The AHS is committed to providing access to current research opportunities. To that end, we have curated a list of current funding opportunities supporting researchers in their pursuit of new insights and treatments for headache disorders.

Innovative Project Award
This grant, co-funded with the American Heart Association, seeks to support innovative, high-impact research aimed at advancing discoveries related to the effects of migraine and other headache disorders on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. One award, up to $200,000 for a two-year project is available. Pre-proposals are due December 10, 2025.
AHS Investigator Initiated Research Awards
The American Headache Society seeks applications exclusively from AHS members for grant funding that will support investigator-initiated research projects. Two awards, each up to $50,000, will be available in 2025. Projects should contribute to the core goal of the AHS – improving the lives of people impacted by migraine and other headache disorders. Proposals are due December 15, 2025.
Headache & Migraine Competitive Grant Program: Quality Improvement Solutions for the Diagnosis and Management of Migraine and Headache Disorders
The American Headache Society and Pfizer are collaborating to offer a new grant opportunity seeking proposals for quality improvement initiatives that will address quality gaps in headache medicine, with a goal of producing information or tools that can be widely used in the field and lead to measurable improvements in healthcare services for individuals with headache. Projects are expected to contribute to core goal of AHS, and focus on safety, clinical effectiveness, rapidity of diagnosis/proper treatment, efficiency, patient centered care, and/or equity. Multiple awards available requesting up to $250,000 for a two-year project period.
Migraine Science Collaborative Travel Grants
The Migraine Science Collaborative (MSC) wants to highlight the work of scientists early in their careers. To that end, 12 Travel Grants per year will be awarded to those who have had their abstract for a presentation or poster accepted at a conference and are attending that conference.
